Route 96 is Melbourne’s busiest tram route, thus PTV and Yarra Trams are upgrading Stop 16 to 22 and renewing track and overheads on Nicholson Street between Fitzroy and Brunswick East. BDS Civil and Construction were engaged by the Principle Contractor, Coleman Rail, to assist with the removal of existing track, conduit and drainage installation, earthworks, track installation and platform construction. BDS Civil and Construction also supplied a range of Plant Equipment that was operated by our Skilled Workers.

Tasks successfully completed:
  • Removal of existing track, including loadout of concrete and contaminated soils.
  • New feeder conduit and pit installation
  • New track and road drainage installation
  • Placement and spreading of road base material
  • Track installation – line and level
  • Platform construction – Conduits for lighting and communications, placement of reinforcement, concreting, bollard installation and furniture install.
